Rosacea
What is Rosacea: Rosacea is a chronic disorder of the face in middle-aged and older persons.Rosacea is characterized by a vascular component (erythema or redness and telangiectasia or tiny superficial blood vessels) with or without an acne eruption ( seen as red pimples or pus pimples). Occasionally, Rosacea may be associated with rhinophymna (W.C Field's nose) which is overgrowth of oil producing glands of the skin. Rosacea is more common in women and individuals of Celtic background.
How to treat Rosacea: Treatments include avoidance of known precipitants of flares of disease activity such as hot liquids, highly seasoned foods, caffeine, alcoholic beverages. Additionally, oral tetracyclines have been shown to improve Rosacea, particularly the acne form component. Lastly, effective topical medicines include metronidazole, clindamycin, and sulfur containing creams are used frequently.

Broken Capillaries
What are Broken capillaries: Broken capillaries are spidery shapes that appear mainly on the nose and cheeks. They occur when tiny capillaries have been stretched so often by the pressure from larger veins that they have become permanently dilated. The abnormal dilation weakens the capillary walls causing them to rupture easily. When the wall ruptures, blood seeps out and flows down along the pathway made by surrounding capillaries. When the blood dries the result is a web like bruise we know as broken capillariesse.
How to Cover Broken capillaries: Use regular concealer to mask those annoying spider veins. Yellow-based concealers can cancel out the redness. Drier stick versions work better than creamier ones in this case. Apply under make-up.
Treatment Plan: Elemis Daily Redness Relief - The powerful Anti-Redness Complex of Malt, Polysacharides of Brown Algae and Neurosensorial Dipeptide Amino Acids help reduce the flushed appearance of broken capillaries.

Enlarged Pores
What causes Enlarged Pores: Contrary to popular belief, your pores don't open and close like a window, but they can become enlarged because of pore-clogging dirt and oils.
How to shrink enlarged Pores: Use some witch hazel or an alcohol-based toner to clear them out. The alcohol will irritate them slightly and cause them to swell, and look smaller. Treatment Plan : DERMAdoctor Picture Porefect, Pore Minimizing Solution- Create a canvas of flawless skin with this innovative formula that visibly diminishes pore size and targets blackheads at their source.

Blackheads dark appearance is caused by the densely packed skin cells, which take on a dark color. It's a common myth that dirt or unclean skin causes blackheads. Blackheads are most prevalent in the in the T-zone, where the sebaceous glands are extremely active, but can show up anywhere on the face. They can turn into a full-blown acne lesion if Blackheads become inflamed or exposed to bacteria.

Puffy Eyes
What cause Puffy Eyes: Puffy eyes are usually caused by too much water or retained salt that pooled under the thin skin while you asleep. Natural Remedies: Slice up a refrigerated cucumber, prop yourself up on a pillow and place a slice over each eye. Relax for 10 minutes and the swelling should go down. Tea bags can also help; just make sure they've cooled down first. Dab some preparation H cream or gel around eye area, I know it sounds awful, but it's supposed to work!

Age Spots
What are Age Spots: Technically known as lentigines, age spots are the result of excess pigment being deposited in the skin during years of sun exposure. If any age spot enlarges, thickens, changes color, bleeds or itches, have it checked by a doctor.
How to get rid of age spots: To remove an age spot, dermatologists often recommend applying the strongest dosage of Retin-A that you can tolerate directly on the spot. The area will proceed to peel, and after a few months, the age spot should diminish and possibly even disappear. Retin-A cream comes in a variety of concentrations, the weakest being 0.025 percent and the strongest being 0.1 percent.
Treatment Plan: Murad Age Spot and Pigment Lightening Gel- Target unwanted discoloration.  This patented gel formula combines glycolic acid with 2% hydroquinone and our patented Advanced Performance Complex™ to effectively fade age spots and hyperpigmentation for more even skin tone, clarity and brightness.

Wrinkles
What cause wrinkles: As you age, your skin makes less oil. Its outer layer (epidermis) becomes rough and dry. In the underlying dermis, two fibrous proteins that keep your skin taut--collagen and elastin--gradually diminish. Your skin first starts to wrinkle, then sag. Secretion of skin pigment (melanin) also becomes irregular, resulting in blotchy skin. Sun exposure and smoking speed up the aging process.
What helps reduce the signs of aging and wrinkles: Retin A--Daily use of a prescription cream containing retinoic acid (a synthetic derivative of vitamin A) reduces fine wrinkles. Retin A sloughs off outer layers and exposes smoother skin underneath. Alpha hydroxy acids--Prescription creams containing acids found in fruits, milk and sugar cane also promote shedding of your skin's outer layer.
Treatment Plan: Peter Thomas Roth Un-Wrinkle- Get up to a 52% reduction in wrinkle size in just 28 days! Six powerful, 100% active Wrinkle Relaxing and Anti-Aging Peptides are combined with vitamins and skin moisturizers to create this wrinkle fighting solution with the highest degree of effective ingredients found in clinical studies.

What are Varicose veins: Large, dilated veins that cause bluish marks on the legs.
What causes varicose veins: Hormonal fluctuation, clothing and activities that restrict blood flow (like crossing your legs or standing for long periods of time) are the most common causes of varicose veins. Heredity also plays a role. While not harmful, many women opt to have varicose veins removed for cosmetic reasons.

Eczema
What is Eczema: Eczema, also known as a topic dermatitis. Eczema is a generally hereditary condition that can occur year-round. In some cases, Eczema is caused by irritants such as fabrics (wool is a common culprit) or allergic reactions to anything that touches your skin, from skincare products to laundry detergent. Although skin may become dry, you'll probably notice red, itchy patches that can scab and flake off.
How to treat Eczema: Use a mild soap and moisturizer especially designed for sensitive skin, which will contain fewer ingredients likely to exacerbate the condition. Your doctor may prescribe a cortisone cream to soothe the redness and irritation. Stay away from drying cleansers, acne products and AHAs. Non-irritating fabrics such as cotton will also help keep flare-ups at bay. See your Dermatologist!

Psoriasis
What is Psoriasis: Psoriasis is a severe skin condition that affects lighter-skinned individuals. Psoriasis can start as early as the late teens or early 20s but can show up anytime. Unfortunately, doctors aren't sure what causes Psoriasis, but genetics may play a role. The symptoms are red, irritated lesions covered in scaly, flaky skin. Normal skin cells turn over about every 28 to 30 days. However, psoriasis sufferers' skin cells regenerate much more rapidly, about every three to four days, and cause the lesions, which usually appear on the hands, elbows or buttocks. There is no cure for Psoriasis, but the regular use of cortisone ointments and heavy moisturizers can keep mild flare-ups at bay. More severe cases require oral medication such as Accutane or Tegison (a retinoid). No single treatment will work in all cases. You may have to try several medications or combinations before you see results.
