Most hair pieces are synthetic hair. This is very important to know. Check manufacturers label to see if the hair is Human or synthetic. You CANNOT use a curling iron on synthetic pieces. The hair will melt! This is important when choosing the texture of the hair piece. If you weave and blend the natural and synthetic hair well, you should not be able to tell the difference between your real hair and the hair piece. You can easily finger wrap the synthetic hair to create a curl.
After searching hours and hours for the perfect do', you finally find what you're looking for. But you just don't have the hair to create it. Here's a simple solution to this dilemma... Hair pieces. Hair pieces and extensions come in an array of colors, lengths and textures. Some are scrunchies, some are hairclips. You can use these to create the perfect style while adding volume and dimension. Short hair gals can now have a beautiful, full updo without anyone knowing your hair is short. The possibilities are endless when adding a hair piece to your style.
Hair Scrunchies
Think of a typical scrunchie but made of hair. The elastic band is covered in synthetic hair which can be straight or curly in all hair colors including fashion colors such as pink, blue and so on. These scrunchies can be used alone as a hair piece or secured over another elastic as such around ponytail.
Uses: Use these to add height to a style or use if you have short hair and want the look of an updo. Here's how:
To add height: You are going to style in 3 layers: Base (natural hair), middle layer (hair piece) and top (natural hair). First, place your hair in a ponytail on your head where you would like your style to rest. After hair is secured with an elastic, take the a small amount form the pony tail and pin to to front, sides and back of hair, out of the way. This will be your base layer. Next, grab the remaining hair in the pony.
Short hair: Slick hair back to a point in the back of head. If you can, take a small elastic and fasten hair. It's ok if this sticks out, it will be covered by the hair piece. Take the hair scunchie and place where desired. Pin with bobby pins. Shake your head to be sure it is secure. Spray well with a hard holding spray.

Hair Extension Pieces
These are longer and fuller than hair scrunchies. The hair is attached to either a large hair comb or by an elastic. The hair cascades and covers the entire comb and can be attached to the head securely via the comb or elastic. These come in an array of lengths and can be curly, wavy or straight.
Uses: Use these with a ponytail style or a half up/half down style to create volume and length.

Take the hair scrunchie and wrap this around the ponytail. This is your middle layer, the hair piece. You will only want to wrap it around the hair once. (It will feel loose, but once you begin to style, curl and pin the rest of your hair, it will become secure.) Begin styling the base layer (natural hair). This layer is the hair you pinned out of the way. Curl small sections of hair and pin around the hair scrunchie to create a circle around the scrunchie, on the base of your head.
After curling and pinning that hair, pin the scrunchie on top of that curled hair. Next you'll start curling the remaining natural ponytail. This is the top layer. Pin the curls un top and throughout the style. You'll want to weave some pieces into the synthetic hair. This will insure that the colors will blend and won't be obvious you have a hair piece in. Spritz well.
