Why should I spend more when I can get one at a drugstore for $25.00?
These new types of flat irons are by far the best inventions to hit the market yet. I'll never forget when one of my stylists came back from a hair show and said that she paid $100.00 for an iron! I thought, she must me nuts!. But then I used it. I now own 3 lol. I can't stress enough, how wonderful these flat irons are. If you've always wanted straight hair without frizz, you can now have it. They truly do work that well.
Ok, so why should you spend around $100.00 instead of  picking up a cheaper ceramic iron for $25.00? Heat. It all comes down to HEAT!!!. The higher priced flat irons have a much higher degree of heat. For an straightening iron to straighten even the curliest of hair, and these really do, the temperature needs to be upwards of 350 degrees. The cheaper brands, usually stay at 225 degrees and do not even tell you the degree of which a flat iron goes to. They just tell you you have 25 heat settings to choose from.
If you straighten your hair more than once a week, you need a good ceramic flat iron. My clients know I never recommend anything unless I feel they need it and would love it. I highly recommend these flat irons for anyone who uses a hair straightener. Spend the extra money for a good one, and save yourself time and most of all, save your hair from the damage that the old metal hair straighteners cause. It's a must have!
Why are Ceramic straightening Irons better than traditional straighteners?
Traditional hair straightener's heat, penetrates hair from the outside-in, exposing hair to moisture loss and damage. Ceramic Flat iron's  far-infared heat penetrates hair quickly, heats hair evenly from the inside-out, straightens hair in a fraction of the time with superior results and with far less damage.

When looking for a a flat iron, what do I look for?
3 things .... Variable Temperature . Ceramic plated. And the heat degree.
First, There are two types of flat irons, Fixed Temperature and Variable Temperature . Fixed means just that. The flat iron stays at a constant degree, usually 400-410. Which is WAY too high for normal everyday use! You should not have to set your flat iron higher than 375 max, no matter your hair type. So ALWAYS look for variable Temperature  straightening irons.
Second, Ceramic plated plates. Stay away from metal flat irons. They suck the moisture out of hair. Look for ceramic flat irons.
Third, Heat degree. A flat iron should tell you the Temperature degree it goes to. If it doesn't tell you the degrees and it just says 20-25 heat settings, don't buy it. The average Temperature a flat iron ranges from should be 150-450 degrees. (use 300-325 for fine hair, 350-375 for all other types including kinky curls)
Where's the best place to buy a good iron?
2 places, from Your Stylist, at the salon or from a reputable online store such as amazon.com or drugstore.com. Stay away from places such as Ebay. There are many counterfeits out there and most manufacturers will not honor their warranties if it was not purchased from a licensed carrier.
