• Add layers to your hair to increase volume

  • When styling hair with flat irons or hot rollers, spritz roots with an aerosol hair spray instead of a spritz. Aerosol tends to dry faster and won't be as hard to brush out. Then tip head up side down & shake.

HOME > STYLING HOME >> Hair Volumizing Tips
Hair Volume Boosting Tips Galore! Flat, lifeless limp hair doesn't have to be a problem. Wish you could get big sexy celeb hair? Below are some simple, useful tips to adding volume to your hair. You can also check out Hot Rollers: step by step instructions on how to use hot rollers for volume. And also see  Using a Flat Iron: you don't have to have straight sleek hair without volume with these flat ironing tips!
  • Volumizing styling products cause the hair cuticle to swell. Thus letting pollutants and excess heat, damage the cortex of your hair. Use moisturizing, volumizing products. Good quality salon volumizing products will not weigh yout hair down.

  • Use a lightweight volumizing conditioner everyday! YES, you must still condition your hair. As above, volumizing products swell the cuticle. Therfor, you need to protect your hair! If your hair is weighed down by conditioner, then you are using the WRONG kind!
  • Use a volumizing mousse only at the roots.
  • Ask your stylist to give you a point cut. Point cutting creates uneven ends and texture creating the illusion of volume in the hair.

  • Blow hair upside down, while lifting roots to add volume.

  • After drying is complete, spray hair lightly with an aerosol hairspray and blow-dry hair again for a minute.

  • If you need volume at a certain point, tease the hair

  • If your hair is El' natural, opt to have a highlight or hair color done. Hair colors, perms and highlights will give your hair more volume.

  • Look for a gel that contains guar gum, an ingredient that gives more control over styling and banishes frizzy hair

  • Always apply pomades, waxes and serums to your hair,  AFTER you flat iron, use hot rollers or blow-dry or your hair style will not hold.

  • If you have fine hair, try not to let your hair grow past your shoulders. Shorter, blunt styles will give your hair  the illusion of volume.

  • To get those separated curls, wash hair, towel dry. Apply mousse and here's the trick, spritz hair with a non-aerosol hairspray all over. Comb through and dry hair  with a diffuser to create volume.

  • Change your part. By going against your natural part, the hair will automatically lift.
