• For thick or unruly eyebrows, dab a small amount of non-aerosol hairspray with fingertip or spray on a Q-tip and stroke through brow hair.
  • To make thin eyebrows appear thicker, first fill in sparse areas with an eye-shading pencil. Then blend and soften
  • Avoid heavy foundation on eyebrows. This can make brows appear orange
  • When tweezing, pull hair out in the direction of growth. When waxing the eyebrow, pull off strip in the opposite direction of growth.

  • To avoid in-grown hairs, apply a toner or astringent directly after tweezing
  • Before you pluck your eyebrows, brush them up and then sideways. This shows the natural pattern of your eyebrow and can show any unruly hairs that need to come out.
  • The tail should extend at least in line with the outer corner of your eye.
  • Choose an eyebrow pencil or powder in a shade slightly lighter than your natural eyebrow color to fill in any bare spots

More Makeup Tips and tricks
Eyebrow tweezing and eyebrow shaping, although not painless and not a whole lot of fun, can dramatically alter your appearance. A great eyebrow shape defines your facial features, enhances your eyes, with or without makeup, and the perfect eyebrow shape for your face can be used to contour your entire facial shape.
Eyebrow shaping tips: Bushy eyebrows
First off, be thankful! Although thick, bushy eyebrows may require more maintenance, these types of brows create the perfect tweezing and shaping canvas! You can virtually create any shaped eyebrow you'd like.
Before you pick up the tweezers or wax, you need to trim the longer hairs first. Do this by taking an eyebrow brush and comb the eyebrows up. You will see a few hairs that raise above the brow line. Place your scissors horizontally right above your eyebrow and trim those hairs, so that they are the same length as the top of your eyebrow.
Next, comb the eyebrows straight down. Trim off the long hairs that go below your eyebrows. Now comb all the eyebrow hairs back into place and you're ready to begin waxing or tweezing. Use the eyebrow shaping instructions below.
Eyebrow shaping tips: Shaping thin eyebrows:
Eyebrows with scarce hair can be quite difficult to shape and do require precise tweezing, filling and shaping.
Start by trimming any unruly gray eyebrows or long hairs that stick out of place, if any exist. You'll want to keep your eyebrows a little on the thicker side. Do not go to thin when shaping or your brows will disappear. Use the shaping instructions above to shape.
After tweezing or waxing is done, you will probably need to use an eyebrow pencil to fill in inconstancies in your eyebrow shape.
How to pluck and tweeze eyebrows:
1. Comb your eyebrows up, trim any excess that goes beyond the natural hair line. Comb your eyebrows down, and do the same.

2. Take a pencil and place it vertically, straight up,  against your nose. This is where your eyebrow should start; any hair that is visible on the other side of the pencil should be tweezed. You can use an eyeliner pencil to mark this area before beginning.  Use a white liner to make the downy, fine hair stand out even more. This makes it easier to see the hairs when tweezing. Next, place the pencil diagonally from the nose to the outer corner of the eye, into the hairline. This is when the eyebrow should end.

3. Start tweezing from the bottom of the natural hairline, just above the eyelid. Tweeze one hair and look, tweeze another and look. Tedious. yes. But well worth going slow. Once a hair is pulled out, it's out!  And one wrong hair removed can change the whole look of the eyebrow shape.

4. Look straight forward. Where the iris is, is where your arch, if any should be. This can also be used as a guide to start thinning the brow line, towards the hairline.

5. When finished tweezing your eyebrows, dab antiseptic across the area. This will ensure no pimples or ingrown hairs will pop out a few days later. You can also dab milk, yes milk, on the eyebrows. This soothes the inflamed area, reducing redness.
How to shape your eyebrows to match your eye and face shape:
  • Small eyes: make your eyebrows a little thicker by building them up just a bit on top to emphasize them. Clear out straggly hairs underneath, and arch them slightly in the outer third to give more space
  • Deep-set eyes: again enlarge the space between the eyes and brows, raise the eyebrows slightly by penciling in a little above the bone
  • Close set eyes: widen the space between the eyebrows a little by plucking, and extend the pencil line at the ends.
  • Wide set eyes: pencil eyebrows a little closer to the nose, and do not extend them out at the ends
  • Bug eyes: tweeze out any hairs that grow down too far over your eyes and raise the eyebrows slightly from below

Not everyone has great eyebrows that can be shaped into the perfect arch. In fact, most women struggle with odd shaped eyebrows, straggly hairs and eyebrows that aren't thick enough to start with and are hard to fill in. Use these eyebrow shaping tips below to create the perfect shape for you.
The key to using an eyebrow pencil to fill eyebrows in or an makeup products made for eyebrows is to start off with little product. Match the color to your eyebrow color, not your hair color! Eyebrows are normally slightly darker by nature. If your hair is red or blonde, do not choose a light or red colored eyebrow filler. These look completely fake! Start filling slow, with little product. Play a little till you have the prefect shaped eyebrow. Try to stick with brow powders as eyebrow pencils can be rather harsh and matte the brows down too much. Or choose to stick with a very soft brow pencil.
Eyebrow pencil tips: How to use eyebrow makeup to shape eyebrows:
Before we begin, if not using a kit, you'll need an angled eyebrow brush to apply the product. Our favorite is the Mini Duo Angled/Spooley Brush by Anastasia. It features a spooley or brow comber at one end and an angled brush at the other for applying product. Second is the brow product. bareMinerals makes these great kits that include everything you need: bareMinerals Brow Color, Angled Brow Brush and Brow Finishing Gel. Each kit is specific to a hair color and comes in 4 colors: Brunette,  Ash Blonde/Pale, Dark Blonde/Medium Brown, and Auburn.
How to fill in eyebrows with powder eyebrow makeup:
First, comb brows into place. Dip the brush into the powder and remove excess by tapping on side of jar. Start at the arch of the eyebrow, moving along the head and finishing at the tail. Use light, tapping movements to fill in color. Don't overdue it. You can always go back and apply more if needed. Finish with eyebrow gel to keep in place.
